Why only two events?
As you may be aware, we have been planning to build an 800-seat auditorium on the southern most part of our campus, just off Bryant Road, north of Waterloo.
We are very excited to announce that these plans have essentially been completed, and we are hoping to break ground during our next concert season!
The extent to which the arts of Central Oklahoma, the city of Edmond and its citizens will benefit from this auditorium is beyond measure.
When this facility opens, around 2010, we hope to continue hosting the greatest names in classical music in what will arguably be the finest concert hall of its
size in Oklahoma. Each season, the building will host numerous concerts as well as other major community activities.
Here is how these plans will affect our upcoming concert season. For the past two years, our seasons have consisted of four world-class performances each.
But, to build this auditorium as quickly as possible and give our concerts this elegant home, we cannot continue sponsoring as many events while at the
same time building a $15-million performing arts center.
Therefore, we have decided to cut this season's series back to two events. But we believe these events—world-renown and Grammy-winning violinist Gil Shaham on Nov. 4, 2007, and the immensely popular King's Singers on Feb. 18, 2008—show our commitment to bringing incomparable
cultural experiences to Edmond.
Sincerely,
Gerald Flurry
